PEER Conference: Use of Indicators for Sustainability

November 17-18 2004 Helsinki, Finland

How and why are sustainability indicators used? What is the relevance of indicators for policy processes? And how can we develop indicators with a sound scientific basis and high usability? These questions will be discussed in the PEER Conference, "Use of Indicators for Sustainability". Speakers at the Conference will include Professor Yvonne Rydin, London School of Economics, Parliamentarian and former MEP Heidi Hautala, Michael Naumann of the City of Leipzig, schoolteacher Maija Flinkman, Louise Rickard of the EEA, Pascal Wolff from Eurostat and Director Pierre Valette from the European Commission, DG Research.

The Conference will offer many opportunities for interactions and exchange of experiences accross countries and disciplines. For details see Conference leaflet (pdf).
