The oil tanker M/t Propontis has been convoyed by the tugboat Ahti to a new anchorage, west of Kalbådagrund near Porvoo where it will stay until Monday. On Monday, pilots and two tugboats will help it through an archipelago fairway to another anchorage at Svartbäck, closer to Porvoo. The berth in Kilpilahti oil harbour will probably be accessible on Wednesday.

M/T Propontis touched ground west of Hogland in the Gulf of Finland, during the night between Thursday and Friday. There are cracks in the bow and two dents of 20-40 cm in the right side. No oil spills into the sea have been observed.

M/T Propontis is a crude oil tanker with double bottom. It was completed in 2006 and it has a crew of 25 persons. The length of the tanker is 249 m and it has 100 000 tons of crude oil aboard. The vessel was on the way from Primorsk to the North Sea.
