Steps towards a good environment

The Pirkanmaa environmental programme 2006-2010 presents general visions, concrete objectives and specified measures concerning the future of the environment in Pirkanmaa. Examples of the measures presented in the programme:

• energy saving and projects that advance efficient use of energy are supported and real estate owners are given information on the possibilities for using renewable energy
• use of bioenergy produced in forests and fields is promoted
• the use of environmentally-friendly technology and the best workable techniques in companies is supported
• guidance for reducing, recycling and sorting waste is provided
• preservation of undeveloped and quiet areas is secured
• the number of areas suitable for recreational use is increased, the areas are developed and the equipment and services in the areas are improved
• preservation of valuable eskers, rock areas and marshes that are in their natural state is secured
• availability of information on the Internet about the regional environment and nature is improved
• state of the environment and the impacts of human activity as well as the means for preventing and decreasing hazardous impacts are researched and monitored actively.
