Using natural products and resources  

Wild berries, mushrooms and flowers may be freely picked wherever everyman’s right allows access to the land, as long as they are not protected species. Mosses and lichens may not be collected, however.

The Nature Conservation Decree contains a list of fungi and plant species that are protected in Finland.

Picking berries and mushrooms is allowed in national parks, but a park's own regulations may restrict picking in certain areas.

Visitors in strict nature reserves may not collect or damage trees, bushes, fungi or other plants, or remove soils, sand, gravel or minerals. Wild animals may not be killed, trapped or otherwise disturbed. In parts of Lapland, cloudberries (Rubus chamaemorus) may only be picked by local residents during certain times of the year.

The Water Act stipulates that everyone may swim, bathe and wash in rivers, lakes and the sea, and draw water for household use, as long as this does not disturb others.
