Organisation of the VELMU programme

The Ministry of the Environment is responsible for steering the programme. The Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE) is responsible for development of the programme and for the country-wide coordination.

The steering group supervises and guides the implementation of the programme. The group is chaired by Eeva-Liisa Poutanen from the Ministry of the Environment. The group consists of representatives from:

  • Ministry of the Environment
  • Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry
  • The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency
  • Ministry of Employment and the Economy
  • Ministry of Finance
  • Ministry of Defence
  • Navy Command Finland
  • The Finnish Border Guard
  • The Finnish Heritage Agency

Project group

The project group is responsible for the practical implementation of the VELMU programme and for coordinating the activities of the participating institutes in different regional areas. The project group is chaired by Markku Viitasalo (SYKE).
